macOS Tiger
Mac OS X Tiger, Apple's fifth major release of OS X, was much beloved by the Apple community & holds the title as the longest-running version of Mac OS X (30 months). Released in 2005, Tiger introduced notable features including Spotlight search, Dashboard, Safari RSS, Automator, and more. It also felt like a very refined version of Mac OS X, with a lot of fit and finish across the entire operating system.
And so, taking on a project like remixing the default Mac OS X Tiger wallpaper wasn't taken lightly. I wanted to recreate the wallpaper for the macOS era, adding clean lines, soft gradients, and a brighter pop of colour to the entire project.
I've been using iterations of this wallpaper as my desktop background over the length of the entire project, periodically diving back into Sketch & making a colour correction here, a layer adjustment there. The finished product is a wallpaper that feels nostalgic & familiar while also feeling very much at home on the modern desktop of macOS.
I hope this project delights you and that you enjoy using it as wallpaper across your devices. macOS Tiger is available for Macs, iPhones, and iPads, in both an original Blue and a devilishly stunning Slate variant.
FEELING TIPSY?
I’m just a one-person operation, working in healthcare by day and running this site as a passion project in my off time. If you enjoy my work (the articles, the wallpapers, my general demeanour… anything really), please consider leaving a tip through buymeacoffee - your support is incredibly appreciated!
Note: If you happen to spot that the iPhone/iPad versions of the Blue wallpaper are darker than the Mac version, there’s a reason behind it. I wanted the wallpaper to show the iPhone’s clock in white text, and to accomplish this the wallpaper needed to be slightly darkened.
