Clear Wallpapers
Introducing a collection of vibrant gradient wallpapers to compliment Clear, the minimalist list-making app for iOS.
When the developers behind Clear approached me about collaborating on a weekend event that included a collection of Apple-inspired icons and themes inside their app, I wanted to make sure I could contribute in a small way.
I've always loved the simple terraced gradients used across Clear and used those as the main design inspiration of these wallpapers. I experimented with a few different shapes before settling on a 10-step, downward arrow design. And with hundreds of different colour variations, I had an abundance of colour options to choose from. but narrowed it down to 19 of my favourite variations inspired by Clear's original heatmap gradient, a few iPhone and iMac-inspired variations, and a beautiful dynamic wallpaper that transitions through six gorgeous hues, from dawn to midnight, across the course of a day.
The folks at Clear wanted to stretch out this event, so I'll be releasing wallpapers from March 18 through Sunday, March 24. Make sure to check this page often to see what new colours have dropped. The wallpapers offer a clean aesthetic for any Mac, iPhone, or iPad and make gorgeous desktop wallpapers and Safari background images. Enjoy!
Sneak Peek
The first drop is the gradient that started it all, the original Heatmap pattern that Clear released with over a decade ago.
Friday, March 22
The first collection of Clear-inspired wallpapers, released on Friday, March 22, complements the current lineup of iPhone 15 Pro colours: Natural, White, Blue, and Black Titanium. All four are available for the Mac, iPad, and iPhone (of course).
And to download Clear for iOS, visit their website at useclear.com.
Saturday, March 23
The second collection of Clear-inspired wallpapers, debuting on Saturday, March 23, is a set of six wallpapers spanning a day: Sunrise, Dawn, Day, Dusk, Twilight, and Midnight. For users on a Mac, I've created a dynamic .HEIC file that, when applied, will automatically change over a day. To enable this on your Mac, go to System Settings > Wallpaper > Add Photo > and select the Clear_Day_Dynamic.heic file.
Sunday, March 24
The third and final collection of wallpapers, released on Sunday, March 24, as part of my weekend collaboration with Clear, is all about the Mac. This collection features six wallpapers harkening back to the colours of the first Apple iMac: Blueberry, Grape, Tangerine, Lime, Strawberry, and Bondi Blue. These wallpapers are a bold complement to any iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Enjoy!
One More Thingโฆ
But there is one more thing. As my final wallpaper for the Clear Weekend collab., I put together a gorgeous rainbow variation incorporating the six original colours of the early Apple logo. Enjoy!
